Cassie's hair

Before...

After...
This is the worst her hair has gotten. We had some times before where it got really tangled and then we would work it out but she finally got to where she wanted it brushed. She took care of her hair, she brushed it every day without me saying anything, it was important to her, she was intrinsically motivated.
She wants her hair long but she hasn't been brushing it. This latest one is the worst ever, she wanted help, she knew it was time to deal with it.
So talk about an all nighter, it took 3 movies, homemade cookies and popcorn, lots of conditioner and breaks. Most of all a very patient daddy, I started to brush it, I was as gentle as I could be. Let's face it, this is gonna hurt no matter what. We did our best to not pull it, she had so many knots, Jason had to cut some out.
She is so happy that her hair is soft and flowing beautifully again. I just braided it so it doesn't get tangled over night. She wants to keep it brushed.

That's awesome.
We always braided my girls hair or put it in a ponytail for sleeping - that greatly reduced the tangles.
I am SO thankful that they do their own now.
How long did it take you????

Cassie has such beautiful hair! I love hearing of your and Jason's patience in this and of how she made the decision to want it brushed.

I can understand now why my mom kept my hair short until I was 12. I still don't agree with it, but I can understand it. :)

Her hair came out very nice. It looks very shiny and soft and pretty.

Absolutely gorgeous! I had hair down to my knee as a child. My favorite childhood memory was my mom brushing mine...I've enjoyed your blog. THANK YOU. By the way, I am new to blog world and this meme thing...but you've been tagged.

My mom had satin pillow cases for us when we (my sis and I) were growing up... this helped to reduce the tangles at night.

I could have posted very similar pictures a couple months back. :) My DD's hair is a lot longer and her head is very sensitive. She's always hated it when I had to brush or comb it. I stopped doing it my self a while back and left it to her. She has just recently (almost 11 now) started taking more care of it herself. There is hope!

DDa5 hated having her hair brushed, and washed- and it got in a real state. I suggested maybe she would like to have it cut (for the first time) to make it easier...she agreed, and wanted it done immediately. DH wans;t impressed his princess lost her curls- but she has washed it nearly every day since, and loves her short hair. I miss her curls too, but man I love not stressing about the matted look! Cassie's hair is gorgeous btw.
