A very scary incident

My day has been rocked for sure.

I was taking a vitamin that I always take and it got stuck at the back of my throat.

I started choking, I couldn't breathe. My older boys came in and slapped my back and Kieran put his arms around me trying to get me to cough it up.

I threw up but the vitamin was never found, it obviously found the right pipe.

I have never choked before, I thought I was going to die, I couldn't swallow or breathe.

I finally was able to breathe, I was shaking, I went into a panic.

My throat is sore and my chest hurts and I have been having a hard time breathing all day. It's the sensation of feeling like I'm not breathing even though I really am.

A few hours later I was afraid to eat and I got really hungry so I ate soup, I figured that was safe.

I still feel messed up but talk about being THANKFUL TO BE ALIVE!!!!!!

I have never experienced anything like that and I pray I never will again.

Stephanie, I'm so sorry you went through that. :o( I had something very similar sounding happen to me with water, of all things a year or so ago. I was by myself in the apartment but I believe there was divine intervention for the water to have gone down and me to be able to breathe again. I'm so glad you're all right. Maybe there's just soreness in the area because of what happened. Try to relax and do something meditative and I'm sure that will help. If you haven't heard of it, www.pandora.com is a great site for music. You choose the song, artist or genre and they will populate a list of those types of songs. Maybe try movie themes or scores, for relaxing sounds. Hope you feel better soon. ((( HUG )))

Oh my gosh - that is SO scary. I am glad you're alright. I bet it shook the boys up too. What a terrifying thing. I had a child I was babysitting choke once - he fell asleep with food in his mouth and without knowing it - I laid him down. I came back into my bedroom a short time later to put another child down for a nap and he was there choking with his eyes rolling back in his head. It was the most terrifying thing that ever happened to me.
I hope you are feeling better very soon. I am sure you're still shaken up.

Love ya -

{{{HUGS}}} That happened once to my son when he was about 10. The neighbor kids called 911 while I tried everything to get the hard candy to dislodge. By the time the firemen arrived, the candy had softened enough and he was able to swallow it, but it was SO SCARY. I'm glad your boys knew what to do!

I would be a little scared to eat after that too! I'm so glad you're okay! Hugs really help calm me down alot, so here's a few for you. (((((Stephanie))))) Although I'm sure a bunch of real hugs from your kids and DH would help even more. ;)

I hope you didn't aspirate, er, inhale a bit of something that could still be in your airways. Not to make you paranoid! Glad you're OK! Hooray for unschooled kids!!!
