I have been going through a lot of life altering stuff and I miss blogging so much.
I just am not ready to get back into it, although if I had a spark I could run with that would help.

Sounds to me like you're not in a comfortable place to say anything "meaningful." I can certainly understand that; I'm often not in a mood to share that much. Write something light and frivolous about something you've done lately with the family or for yourself. Or do one of the silly memes that are out there. Just dash off a quick note, like this one.

Pop culture is always a good way to get ideas. A song you heard? A TV show you hate? (or love?) Something you read that struck you? A movie (or famous person) you want to rail against?)
I recently stumbled on your blog. I'm a high school English teacher, by certificate anyway. It's been a while since I've been in the classroom. I've been traveling a bit, but the more I read about alternatives to traditional school settings the more I get excited. I can't wait until I have my own kids to educate them through life! I love the idea of learning being directed by the learners and encouraging a life of education and experience! My question may be a strange one for you. Is there a place for a "teacher" somewhere in this beautiful community of unschoolers, life learners, or homeschoolers. Not having children to actually teach myself, at the moment, am I stuck in the traditional educational system? Do parents, support groups, communities ever partner with certified teachers who hunger for a change in the face of our educational world? Or am I not "invited" to the party? :) Half kidding..... Half not :) Don't know if you have any answers, but thought I'd ask. Thanks!

Tracy-our family would welcome anyone to partner alongside of us, if they were willing to contribute in positive, life learning affirming ways vs institutionalized thinking. A person's title would mean very little to me...their beliefs and how they treat people are what I'd look for. In other words, I'd never exclude someone simply because they were a teacher! Some of my favorite people are teachers and they have added many positive contributions to our lives.

Hey Tracy,
John Holt never had kids and he was a pioneer in the unschooling movement. He wrote several books on his observances of school kids while he was a teacher.
There are many ex teachers that leave it and homeschool their own kids.
I definitely think there is room for you at the party.
You'll be all ready once you do have kids :)
