Why do people even utter the word?

Why do homeschoolers say I'm not an unschooler but? We were unschooly today... After the books the kids did _____. Why do they have a list of excuses of why they can't be unschoolers?

Why don't they leave us out of their equation? I have often wondered why so many people are ready to talk about unschooling even though they aren't doing it.  I think there is some sort of weird affiliation, jealosy? curiosity? hatred? I really don't know.

All of these people who hate labels yet publicly use the word unschooling when they aren't unschoolers makes me wonder.

I think some people are misinformed but some think they know what we know and some just plain say hey we are unschooling at this time of day and that is what it is.

Unschooling is equated with not using a formal method of textbooks or teaching so if the kid goes off and actually looks something up they are unschooling? Really?

I've seen people say they enforce the basics but encourage *unschooling*   UGH!!!!

The basics are learned through living life, they don't need to be enforced! Stop enforcing things on your children! Live with them, listen to them, be with them, love them. Academics are such a waste of precious life.... Anyone can learn when not forced but lives in a loving environment. Nobody needs enforcement of the basics! What are the basics? Reading, writing, adding, subtracting, cooking, cleaning??? One person's list is not anothers. Hey teacher leave them kids alone!

You can tell me to shut the fuck up and back off but in reality Unschooling does mean something, it is a  real philosophy, it is a real way to live with your children.

I'm really sick of all of the bullshit on the web and people who use the term. If you aren't unschooling, admit it, move on and forget about us...Please!!!!!

Violated

We just realized that our business cell phone was stolen, it happened in the past week. Since we are just getting the business started the phone isn't getting much use.

Jason called the phone company and it turns out there are $400 in text messages and downloads in the past week.

This was stolen out of our car, not exactly sure where but I've only been to a handful of places so it could've happened at our house too.

This isn't the first time we have had something stolen from our car or our property.

We work hard and we don't have much and to just have someone take it from you is brutal. We don't steal from others, there is no excuse for stealing.

You know that this society is being bred for entitlement, see what you want and take it. You don't have to work hard to achieve it you are entitled to it!

It is sad line of bullshit for sure.

How are we supposed to cover the costs of a new phone, business cards, advertising and everything that has that phone number on it? We have to pay for this asshole's charges on our phone!

The phone company is working with us but they can't/won't credit it all to us.

The police will come over to take a report, we want this guy caught and arrested and put on his record.

It is unacceptable to take what doesn't belong to you.

Ugh! My blood pressure is going up I have to calm down.

Little pet peeve

I just went to the post office and I got behind this OM(old man) going 20-25mph on a back road that I take to cut out of main traffic.
I'm following him, you can't really pass on that road and we are getting up to where I need to turn and he turns the way I'm going.

UGH!

The speed limit on this road is 45mph and he managed to get up to 30mph.
Patience is not my strong suit but I get so irritated when people go that far UNDER the speed limit.

I was saying please God I can't be behind this guy, I'll lose my mind. There are places to pass on this road but the cars kept coming.

Then finally dotted lines and no cars, I stepped on the gas and flew away.

Ah freedom :)

I'm all for being safe but holding up the flow of traffic isn't safe either.

I'm not a speed racer, well I do like to drive fast and only do it when appropriate.

I usually go about 5mph over the limit because the cops in this town will get ya.

I did get a ticket in PA when I was pregnant with Jared and it was my first offense EVER and I was treated like a common criminal. Bad experience.

Anyway I think speed limits should be guidelines not Law but that's another story...

If you want to drive slow pull over and let us by, pretty simple.

cranky neighbors

The old man across the street came out and told my son that he has heard enough fireworks for the past 4 days.

My son was just going to set off a few bottlerockets and then be done with it.

We only set off a few the past couple nights. We live in a subdivision, the 4th and 5th sounded like we were in a war zone. Some people were setting off the loud ones that sound like gun shots. As a matter of fact I just heard some, I guess my son was an easy target.

He came in all long faced and sad being scolded by this guy.

UGH!!!

Don't you talk to my kids, you come talk to me!!!!!

So it's a little noise for a few days, get over it, turn your damn hearing aid off.
